Applications are now OPEN for the 2025 African American Fellowship at Preservation Virginia!

This amazing opportunity, supported by the Mellon Foundation, is perfect for anyone passionate about preserving African American history and voices. Whether you're a student or a community member, you'll gain valuable skills, make industry connections, and contribute to vital preservation work. 🏛️
Applications are now open for the third year of the African American Fellowship at Preservation Virginia. Supported by a grant from the Mellon Foundation’s Humanities in Place program, the Fellowship has grown from three participants to five for the second year.
The program seeks to help document African American history and historic sites. Fellowships are available to students and nontraditional preservationists—community members undertaking preservation efforts without formal training. Nontraditional preservationists often address local issues and need support and education to preserve African American history and historic sites.
Applications are due by March 21, 2025. The fellowship program will run from late May through September 2025.
